– Published 11 June 2017

The Harry C. Bigglestone award is given annually to the paper appearing in Fire Technology that best represents excellence in the communication of fire protection concepts. This year it was awarded to Enrico Ronchi, Erica D. Kuligowski, Daniel Nilsson, Richard D. Peacock, and Paul A. Reneke, for their paper entitled “Assessing the Verification and Validation of Building Fire Evacuation Models.” This paper is the result of a collaboration between Lund University and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on the main issues associated with the definition of a standard procedure for the verification and validation of building fire evacuation models.

On June the 3rd, lead author Enrico Ronchi accepted the award from NFPA Executive director Casey Grant on behalf of his co-authors during a ceremony held at NFPA’s Conference & Expo in Boston. The full award-winning paper is freely accessible at the following link.
